Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 20, 2025

Neko Dub ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Neko Dub browser extension, website, and related services (the "Service"), how we use it, and your rights.

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign in with Google OAuth, we receive your Google account email address, display name, and profile picture. This information is stored in our authentication database to identify your account and personalise the Service.

Usage Data

We collect anonymised usage metrics such as the number of videos dubbed per day, AI dubbing seconds consumed per month, and ASR (speech-to-text) seconds consumed per month. This data is used to enforce plan quotas and improve the Service. We do not record which specific videos you watch.

Extension Settings

Your extension preferences (target language, voice selection, volume settings, etc.) are stored locally in your browser's extension storage and optionally synced via the browser's built-in sync mechanism. We do not transmit raw settings data to our servers.

Technical Data

Our servers may log standard request data including IP addresses, browser type, and timestamps when you make API calls. These logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days for security and debugging purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide the Service — authenticate your account, process dubbing requests, and enforce plan quotas.
  • Communicate with you — send transactional emails (billing receipts, security alerts) and, with your consent, product updates.
  • Improve the Service — analyse aggregated, anonymised usage patterns to fix bugs and develop new features.
  • Security and fraud prevention — detect and prevent abuse, unauthorised access, and violations of our Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. Video Content Processing

To generate dubbing, we process the caption/transcript text and audio of the video you are watching. Caption and transcript text (including punctuated and translated versions) is cached temporarily on our servers to speed up repeat requests and is automatically deleted after a limited retention period. We do not use this content to identify you or track which specific videos you watch. Dubbed audio is generated in real time and is not persisted on our servers after delivery.

4. Third-Party Services

To provide the Service, we may share data with third-party service providers that handle authentication, translation, text-to-speech, infrastructure, and data storage on our behalf. These providers process your data only as necessary to deliver the Service and are bound by their own privacy policies.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

Our website uses a minimal set of cookies required for authentication sessions. The extension uses browser extension storage APIs, not browser cookies. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

6. Data Retention

Account information is retained for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from your dashboard, after which we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Aggregated, anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be used to identify you.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Deletion — request erasure of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection — object to certain types of processing, including direct marketing.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. International Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States and countries where Cloudflare operates data centres. We take appropriate steps to ensure that your data is treated securely in accordance with this Privacy Policy wherever it is processed.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated policy here and update the "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
